Here you go my first two crabs of MANY

 

Ok so this weekend is my crab cake.  I’m really hoping it’s going to turn out.  I have it all planned in my head what to do, but we all know how that turns out LOL  In  your head the cake is perfect…..in the real world it’s not….I’m sure either way our friend will love it and it should turn out ok.  Tomorrow I will be making the crabs out of blue and what chocolate, my molds came last week.  Also tomorrow once the crabs have been unmolded i will have my son help me paint some silver luster dust on them to give them more of a jersey blue-ish/silver-ish color.  On Friday will be the marshmallow fondant making day and then I will cut my slats for the bushel.  I was going to taper the cake wide at the top and narrow at the bottom, but I’m using a moister cake so carving would not be good.  So the bushel will be all one size.  I have to figure a good way to make the slats look woodish toned.  I have not messed with tools on fondant to give you different looks and stuff, so that should be fun LOL.  On Saturday I will bake the cake early, let cool, ice the in-between layer and put a brick on top to make sure the cake “sets”.  Saturday afternoon will be the crumb coat and assembly.  So it should be a busy day for me.  Oh yeah I will be doing all of this while my boyfriend recovers from neck disc fusion surgery tomorrow.  So yeah fun fun. LOL Wish me luck on the cake…I just hope it looks somewhat good.  I’m a little rusty at cakes…but we shall see…

Well I have a cake I’m baking for a friends birthrday.  It’s going to be a bushel of crabs.  I have to order the crab molds today and then I have to figure out how to make the crabs blue claw crabs.  I don’t have an airbursh, but I will figure something out.  It’s going to be slow posting the new few weeks as I’m heading out on vacation for a bit, that  plus the end of the school year and all of  that fun stuff.  I will post pictures of the cake as I”m doing it along with other stuff I’m going to go through out the summer.  Take care for now.
